"Using physical alignment as a starting point, Iyengar Yoga encourages the spread of intelligence throughout the body, the growth of self-awareness and an experience of the asanas as a form of 'meditation in action.'" B.K.S. Iyengar
Ask any Iyengar devotee and he or she will explain that intelligent sequencing pampers both your body and spirit. So, it’s not surprising that one of the most distinctive qualities of Iyengar yoga is the variation of asana sequences. Throughout his 80 years of practice, B.K.S. Iyengar systematized over 200 classical yoga asanas and 14 types of pranayama, all designed to guide students toward more advanced understanding and inner intelligence as they gain flexibility, strength and deeper meditative practices.
"Yoga teaches one to do one's duty without thought of reward, to be involved in life's turmoils and yet to remain aloof; to act rightly and to liberate oneself from this life."
In memory of our dear teacher
